Hi all :-) Heidi and Steph asked me to be the new DT leader for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge and of course I said YES!! Although this genre isn't my forte, I am looking forward to learning new techniques and discovering my more 'artsy' side, thats assuming I have one ;-)
STAMP AND PUNCH/DIE CUT
Whether you use a die cut with coordinating stamp, use a paper punch on a background stamp, or stamp a pre-made diecut shape or alphabet sticker this week we want to see your projects that feature a punch or die cut with a stamp!

I was inspired by the orange hibiscus flowers in my garden and made a card using a Simon's Exclusive Flowers of Whimsy Stamp and Die Set
First of all I die cut the Stitched Rectangle and then used a Grid Stamp, inked with Versamark Dazzle for the background. I hadn't cleaned my Dot Fade Stencil properly after I last used it and the White Embossing Paste was tinted with the Peeled Paint Distress Ink that was still on it, looks OK though I thought so I left it ;-)
I stamped the flowers with Dried Marigold Ink, I used a MISTI tool for this so I could stamp them several times to get a really good coverage. I also used the outline stamp, inked black which just caught the edges in places, I love the effect this gives, just a hint of black here and there.
The sentiment is in the same stamp set 'If Friends Were Flowers I'd Pick You' I love that sentiment, one of my faves. I stamped the leaves with some text for a more 'artsy' look ;-)

Your artsy side is most definitely alive and kicking ... this is a fabulous card! Congratulations on your new DT Leader post!
What a great card to launch your new role as our fearless leader! This piece made me smile and I love the sense of whimsy it has, yet it also has that cool dot texture which is perfectly imperfect. Love the texture and oomph that the string brings. You did a really great job on this (love the text on the leaves, too) and I'm glad that you were able to find inspiration from your own garden. I run away screaming from my "garden," so kudos to you and your green thumb!
I never knew there was a Monday one too (blush) I swear I go around with my eyes shut tight most days, I love what you have done here the colours are gorgeous and I love the embossing too, congrats sweetie on your new role, hugs Pops x
