Simon Says: Lets Take A Vacation

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Lets Take A Vacation!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Pleas don't forget to pop by the lovely and super talented Anne's blog to see her super fabulous beach huts!! The DT have all made awesome creations so if you have time please pop by to see them too ;-) XX Thank You XX

I recently renewed my passport and decided that it was time to make a new passport holder and I also made a coordinating luggage tag.

I used  Grungepaper which I think is a perfect weight and is hardwearing to use for something that I hope will last a few years.

I started by inking the paper with Broken China and  Faded Jeans Distress oxide inks, I then spritzed and splattered with water, Tumbled Glass Distress and Black Marble Inks

I added more texture using a Gridlock Embossing Folder and then die cut a world a plane and letters to finish the holder.

I used distress inks for the world and didn't like how I had coloured them so I painted over with gesso, a little bit of colour came through the paint and I then used a brown pencil to shade in the coastlines.

the shading shows up more on this pic

I am now all ready for my next vacation!

Edited to add: My daughter has claimed this set so I will have to met me another, the joys of motherhood! ;-)

Thanks for looking! It's now time to get out your vacation supplies and join in the fun!

Due to the recent 300% price hike to transfer from Inlinkz to Link Deli I have stopped using that service. It is such a shame that a service we have used for years can suddenly increase their prices so dramatically and if you don't pay all of your links for years disappear. Grossly unfair in my opinion. But hey ho' time to bite the bullet and leave.

Here is a link list of the products I used. I do receive a commission on these affiliate links but rather than give the proceeds to inlinkz I will be donating the full amount to the Gozo SPCA. Every little helps ;-)

Grungepaper
Tim Holtz Thinlits Globe
Cityscape Commute
Alphanumeric Marquee
Darkroom Door Alphabet Medley
Framelits Tag Dies

So now it's YOUR turn to get out your holiday supplies and create something with your vacation in mind!

Do you use Instagram ?  If so please add  #sssmchallenge so we can see your entries there too

I am not one bit surprised that your daughter has commandeered these, not only are they beautiful but so useful too! I love how the grungepaper took the inks and stains and the embossing just brings the colours out more! The shading on the world is beautifully subtle and I love how the bold Passport word stands out. A brilliant set! Hugs, Anne xx

How did you manage to use the globe dies this way!?!?! tell me your secrets!!! I love it!!!
Every time I loose all the teeny bits of paper and I go crazy trying to put them back together!!!
I also love the blue tone, definitely a color that makes me dream!

This is such an absolutely clever idea! I love it when style and utility combine into one fabulous project and you've certainly done that here. The only problem I can see is that the airport staff will probably steal your luggage tag because it's so flippin' adorable!
