Simon Says ' Use Some Lucky Stars'

newchallenge

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for the Make Your Own Background Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week we are challenging you to

USE SOME LUCKY STARS

It is St Patrick's Day on the 17th of March and for this challenge we are hoping for some of the luck of the Irish and adding some lucky stars to our creations!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

I have to admit that when I started this canvas I didn't have a clue what I was doing, the only thing I did know was that I would pop at least one star on it somewhere, but I do think the star of the show is the cute Crazy Cat! Being fairly new to Mixed Media I just painted and layered and splattered whatever I had and I am thrilled with the result! I used Gesso, Distress Ink Pads and PaintsTissue WrapCosmic Shimmer Texture Paste and just had fun!

I started with an 8X8" canvas which I smothered with a layer of Gesso, when that was dry I painted a layer of Tumbled Glass Paint and then used a Stormy Sky Paint Dabber to dab paint over the top. I saw that Cathie had used some torn tissue paper on her canvas last week so I copied that idea and then filled in the other areas with Ocean Spray Cosmic Shimmer Texture Paste,,, ooh this is lovely, I think it's my new fave product ;-)

I toned down the brightness with some more Gesso, lightly dabbed on with my finger and then dabbed with Pumice Stone Paint.

I really enjoyed making this, if you have never had a go at mixed media grunge then I highly recommend that you give it a go, it is just so much fun to do!

So now it's YOUR turn, Happy Crafting

New to mixed media? Are you kidding? The background couldn't be prettier! The tissue paper technique is just great! You took beautiful colors for the background. The whole piece matches perfectly to everything! You know I love the cat cause I'm absolutely crazy about them but the stars cut out from the cork just rock! Ok please stay this "new" in mixed media as you are!!! I love your canvas! Hugs, Marzena

I'm not going to lie, Lols- I have a pretty rough history with cats. Even so, you've managed to make an adorable one here! Love the detailed coloring job you gave him! I also really liked how you added so much dimension with the corrugated cardboard and the twine. If I did have a cat, I hope that I could make some cool cat-art like this.
