Simon Says: Stencil It

newchallenge

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

We have a Design Team Call, if you would like to join our awesome team CLICK HERE for more details!

Thank you for joining us for the Something New Challenge and we hope you will join us again this week too!

This week the challenge is

STENCIL IT

There are so many fabulous stencils available right now and there are so many techniques you can use with them. It is fun to ink, spray or use embossing paste, lots of options and the end result is always a little bit unpredictable. It is a fabulous way to create your own backgrounds, or the designs can be the focus of attention. Of course you can always create your own stencils, whatever you decide to do we will be looking forward to seeing what you create!

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

My parents share the same birthday and this year will be my Mum's 80th so I made these coordinating cards for them :-)

I love this  Tim Holtz Birthday Blueprints set, it's perfect for all ages and both sexes ;-)

I used the same stencils and techniques for both cards, just changing the colours and the stamp. I inked the background with Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint Distress Inks and then used a Dot Fade Stencil and Stormy Sky ink to add some design. I then used a Crackle Stencil and Shabby Shutters Ink to add a little extra interest to the top and bottom corners. I used a Cargo Stencil and Black Soot Ink to stencil 'HAPPY' down the side.
I then used a Mini Paint Lids Stencil and some White Embossing Paste to add a textured design.

I then stamped and cut out another balloon, coloured with Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky inks, shaped using an Embossing Tool and then spritzed with Sparkle before adhering with 3D foam.

For Mum's card I did practically exactly the same, the only difference being that I used Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I also inked some plain white card with the Festive Berries Ink to make the base panel. While the ink was still wet I brushed some Perfect Pearls over the top to create a lovely shimmery mat.

I added a little extra sparkle by adding my favourite Prisma Glitter to the party hat and I also wrapped some Iridescent String around the edge.

Beautiful pair of cards and love how they coordinate but very much reflect a masculine and feminine take on the cards. Happy 80th to your mum! What a lovely milestone!
