I made this canvas for one of my best friends ;-)
The lovely Shari Carroll designed a beautiful canvas for the Create Event and I was lucky enough to make one too. My best friend loved it too so I made this along similar lines for her.
I started with a 6x6" canvas and primed with White Gesso, I then splattered with Tumbled Glass, Black Marble, and Pale Tomato inks. I then used White Embossing Paste a Splatters Stencil and a sprinkling of Pumice Stone Distress Glitter.
I used a Butterfly Duo Stamp and Embossing Set a Sizzix Hearts Bigz Die and a Scribbles and Splatt Die to decorate the canvas. I coloured the butterflies with Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, Spun Sugar and Festive Berries Distress Inks.
I stamped text from a Friend Definition Stamp on the yellow butterflies, I used the embossing folder that comes with the die set and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder on the pink butterflies and a Dot Fade Stencil, White Embossing Paste and a sprinkling of Prisma Glitter on the aqua butterflies. To finish I added a 'Painted Hello' die cut, dabbed with Brushed Pewter Distress Paint, I love the effect this gives and think it is a perfect finishing touch :-)

Lorraine this is lovely, I have a huge soft spot for butterflies and can see why your best friend loved it.
I have chickened out of applying for the dt call, so much talent I don't envy the task of picking the new members.

New favorite piece! New favorite piece! This is fantastic! I love the combo of splattery grunginess with the elegant butterflies. The swirly circles are fabulous and I really love the corrugated look to the heart. So many glorious details to soak in on this one and you did a killer good job on this!
