An Appeal ! PLEASE turn off word verification !!!

I appeal to everyone to please turn off word verification !! If you like use the owner approval option ,, then you can weed out undesirables ! I have never used word verification and I have NEVER had any problems ,.. When you have to leave so many comments on cards it takes twice as long and in my opinion completely unnecessary ! With everyone being so busy at the moment this little gesture will make all the difference to many of us

TURN IT OFF PLEASE !! x x

I agree Lorraine...the worst ones are the ones that appear in a pop-up window after you've clicked the 'Post Comment' button...
I don't use it, and have never had any 'nasty' messages either.

Here here, so tiresome when you have to go back in up to three times to leave your comment.

Not only this, but I wish everyone would check off the box in blogspot to have the comment window appear in a separate box. This is 10 times easier to leave a comment because you can still look at what you are commenting on and a new page doesn't have to load. This makes it easier too for those who still have slow connections. Let's try to make it easier on all of us. This was a great request Lorraine. . .I think I'm going to do a plug for this same request too. Best, Curt

Totally agree Lorraine ... I HATE word verification. And how many times have you got caught out with the new Blogger accounts where the verification appears as you try to publish - I have had to go back and re -post as I miss this step!!!
Hope you have a great weekend.

I couldn't agree more - I just hate it. I take time to comment on people's blogs and then have to jump through hoops to actually get the comment through to them. If you have comment moderation you don't need the letter pain.

The worse ones are the ones where you click post and then the letters flash up. Awful.

Maybe we should stop commenting on blogs that use it.

OMG YES!!!!! And what Curt said too, truly, such a chore!! I am on an old windows xp that is packed full of photo software, waiting for these pages to load takes a minute, then the pop up window, another minute, then the word verification, another minute, the prompt saying this comment wont be visible after approval, another minute. An hour will go by and I've visited 7 blogs!! I shouldn't have to take a pop quiz after coming by to leave some love, it takes the fun right out of it to have to go through a huge hassle to post comments.
Ahhhh!!!!!!!!!!
Seasons greetings lols!!

Lorraine - seems like you are really starting something here - and I want to join in....will repost this on my blog! I also agree that the worst ones are the ones that suddenly pop up at the end!

And Curt - have just gone back and sorted that - I was guilty of that one - I prefer having the seperate box, and we have a good connection where we are so it never occurred to me that this might be slowing everything down for other people! I guess sometimes, we need people to tell us what is wrong because if we dont experience it ourselves we have no concept!

OMGosh!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! YES! PLEASE turn it off!!! And like Curt said, please make your comment box a seperate window! Soooo much easier to be able to catch up with more than one post on someone's blog!! If you're that worried about rogue posts, then please use comment moderation. There are times I have to submit my post five times with word verification before it takes, only to see that the post will be visible after blog owner approval. It's like trying to get through an armored truck to leave some love!! Thanks for bringing this out, Lorraine! hugs!

Hi have to say I totally agree and find it one of the most annoying things ever!! the other thing that really needles me is music on blogs!! ARGH!! te hehehe does my head in!

Lorraine I think we should start a campain to rid blogs of word verification :0) not sure how but I will certainly post a message on my blog too!

I would make a banner but I lost the program for making them! will have to ask someone if they can make us one! Samantha :0)

Hi Lorraine,

I must admit I only had word verification on for security reasons. I have now turned it off and also have the pop up window on now so hopefully things will be easier in the future.
Thanks for mentioning it

Hiya I have never used word verification either and I have never had any problems, I sometimes get quite frustrated when visiting blogs to leave a comment and if blogger is playing up it seems to take ages to come up with the box which means it can cut down on the time you spend visiting favourite blogs.

Wait wait - are we meant to be having comments in boxes or not???? First time I read Curts post I thought he wanted us to have it in popup boxes, then I read again, had a think and thought that he was saying that he had to wait for a new window (the pop up) to load....NOW I see that people are reading it the way I did as in they WANT the pop up box....someone help - my connection is really fast so I dont know which way causes a problem for people with slow connections....should I have a pop up box (which I started with and prefer) or not???? Ouch I think my head just popped!

Samantha said...

Hi Ruthie I have read and re read it and think they are asking for a pop up box so you can still read the original post! :0)

I've never had word verification on my blog and never once had any issues. Personally I like having the name/url option available too, probably because I'm one of the few using Typepad and it's quicker that way too :-) Dulcie xx

The writer of loraquilina.blogspot.com has written a superior article. I got your point and there is nothing to argue about. It is like the following universal truth that you can not disagree with: Getting a programmer to write user documentation is like giving a cat a bath. I will be back.
