Simon Says: Make your Own background

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

This week the challenge is to

Make Your Own Background

There are so many awesome techniques to create your own backgrounds, from textured embossing and simple splattering of inks to multi layered stencilling and gelli plate printing. Whatever techniques you used we will be looking forward to seeing your makes!

We are showcasing some fabulous Concord&9th Products this week.
You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used!

The lovely folks over at Simon Says Stamp are generously giving away a FABULOUS $50 voucher to shop at the  Simon Says Stamp Store! All you have to do is take out your crafty supplies, make something following this week’s prompt, and add a link in the Inlinkz at the bottom of this post! You can join 5 times so you could have 5 chances to win! How AWESOME is that!! All winners are chosen randomly, so everyone has an equal chance to win! Woo Hoo!! Good Luck to everyone! The Design Team is looking forward to seeing your creative makes and will pop around to visit you ASAP!

We are welcoming the lovely and super talented Julie Hickey aka Cards by Julie into the Designer Spotlight this month! Julie has only recently started a blog but has been very active on lots of other forums previously. Please pop over and follow her and leave her some love! :-)

Please pop by the challenge blog to see what our lovely guest, Julie, and the DT have made :-)

I made a couple of cards using a gorgeous Monogram A Stamp Set

I was sorely tempted to buy the Whole Alphabet they are so AWESOME!!  they would be fabulous for making Party/Christmas/Wedding banners etc I am definitely adding these right at the very top of my wish list ❤️

For this first card I used a Simon's Merlot Ink Pad, such a gorgeous deep crimson red colour. I used a Misti tool so that I could add more ink and stamp a couple of times to get a really deep covering.

For the background and banner I used a Simon's Exclusive Kaleidoscope Leaves and Gingham Background Cling Stamps

For this 2nd one I used Simon's Intense Black Ink  for the 'A' stamp and a Simon's Jazz Dance Stencil together with White Embossing paste and Prisma Glitter for the background.

and I finished the insides quite simply

So now it's YOUR turn to make your own backgrounds and join in with the fun!

Do you use Instagram ?  If so please add  #ssswchallenge to your challenge entry uploads so we can see them on there too.

You have until Wed  8am Ohio time. 1pm UK time, 2 pm CET to join in

ABC Christmas 'P' 'Q' 'R' Challenge

Hi all and welcome back to a new theme on the ABC Christmas Challenge! If you have been joining us from the beginning of the year you should have a healthy box of cards ready to use! If not then maybe you should think about joining in, there are only 174 days left to go!

The lovely Sharon is our hostess for this month and the themes are

'P for Plain'
'Q for Quotes'
'R for Robins or Rabbits'

You can choose any or all of the themes, just don't forget the Christmas bit ;-)

For my first 'P' for Plain card I used an older Hero Arts stencil that is now discontinued but it is very similar to THIS ONE from Memory Box

I blended Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Ink through the stencil and simply added dots of Ruby Red Liquid Pearls on the berries. I stamped a sentiment and added a strip of Washi Tape to add a little bit more interest.

For my 'R' for Robins card I used a gorgeous Lawn Fawn 'Simply Celebrate' Stamp Set and Coordinating Dies I love that this set has designs that can be used for everyday celebrations and Christmas too!

I used a Lawn Fawn Stitched Scalloped Rectangles Die Set for the frame. I masked the outer edges and then splattered with Distress Resist Spray, when this was dry I blended Broken China Distress Oxide Ink over the top and then spritzed and splattered with water.

I coloured the little robins with copic markers and popped them on a line, as you can see they are merry singing Christmas Carols ;-)

The sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn Winter Sparrows Stamp Set

and I finished the inside.

Thanks for looking!
We are sponsored by the lovely peeps at Lawn Fawn
You could win a fabulous $25 gift certificate!

and Sharon is also giving away this super cute Penny Black stamp set!
